The PAYGO revolution

Guarantee accessibility to solar energy

Despite a price calculated to be as low as possible, solar kit equipment is too often difficult to finance for the most disadvantaged populations.

To make solar energy profitable for everyone and especially in rural areas of developing countries, a new business model, coupled with new technologies has emerged in Africa: Pay-As-You-Go.

The PAY-AS-YOU-GO Revolution

Installation

After a first deposit, the customer leaves with a ready-to-use kit that he can install directly with or without the help of a technician.

Payments

In order to  to be able to use his system, the customer makes regular payments by mobile  hub on a weekly or monthly basis.

Unlocking

At the end of the repayment period, the customer becomes the owner of the solar installation.

Based on the rent-to-own business model, where the customer rents the system for a fixed period until it belongs to him, PayGo uses a payment system via telephone operators which also allows service to be cut. remotely in the event of payment default.

The customer can thus make weekly or monthly payments at low amounts as he already did to buy kerosene for lighting.

ARESS was the first company to set up such a system in Benin, so far more than 8000 solar kits have been distributed in Pay-as-You-Go.

A nurse by training, I made the choice to settle in a rural environment to improve the conditions of childbirth. So I opened a health center but there was no electricity and I had to give birth to women with torches.

And in 2013, I was told about the solar company ARESS which sold lighting kits.

I bought a kit of three lamps and two picos. It allowed me to be independent, to save money and to expand my health center.

In 2016, ARESS presented me with its solar solutions with mobile money payments that I immediately adopted. This allowed me to offer a better quality of care to my patients and better comfort including the possibility of recharging their cell phone and a small fridge.

Innovative electrification solutions

We sell solar kits that facilitate access to reliable solar energy with rapid installation. The latter intervene in rural areas as substitute equipment within households. They become accessible to everyone via the paygo payment system .

SSD solar home kits (or SHS Solar Home System) are turnkey kits that contain all the components necessary for the installation of a solar installation most often on a roof, providing storage capacities of several days and allowing various energy services (lighting, television, refrigerator).

Their power is generally between 15W and 300W

Pico PV solar systems are small independent devices providing lighting and / or small additional electrical services, such as recharging radios, cell phones, MP3 players, etc. They are powered by a solar panel and use a battery for electricity storage.

The use of pico PV systems essentially allows the substitution of traditional lighting sources, such as efficient kerosene lamps with low light output.

Married and father of 4 children, I found a house in the village but there was no electricity.

I have heard about ARESS solar systems and that it could help me start my cell phone charging business. And so I went to see the ARESS teams to get information and they told me that I could pay in installments and have electricity at home.

For 6 months that I have been a client, my activity has been going well and I can find something to eat for my family.
